Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable sewing table.

  1. Remove packaging materials and protective covers.
  2. Attach power cord to machine and plug into AC outlet.
  3. Install foot control pedal if using traditional operation.
  4. Place machine on flat, stable surface at comfortable height.
  5. Install needle following arrow direction and tighten screw.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during setup. Ensure machine is unplugged during installation.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; familiarize with basic controls.

  1. Thread machine: Follow numbered threading path on machine.
  2. Wind bobbin: Place thread on spool pin, wind bobbin using bobbin winding system.
  3. Insert bobbin: Drop bobbin into case following arrow direction.
  4. Select stitch: Turn stitch selection dial to desired pattern.
  5. Test sew: Use scrap fabric to test stitch quality and tension.

CAUTION! Always turn off power when changing needles or performing maintenance.

Threading & Bobbin

Proper threading ensures smooth operation and quality stitches.

  1. Raise presser foot and needle to highest position.
  2. Follow numbered threading path from spool pin to needle.
  3. Use automatic needle threader: Push lever down, hook thread, pull back.
  4. Wind bobbin: Place thread on spool pin, through pretension, around bobbin.
  5. Insert bobbin: Drop in following arrow direction, pull thread through slot.

WARNING! Always raise presser foot when threading. Ensure bobbin is inserted correctly.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Unplug machine before cleaning.
  2. Remove needle plate and clean lint from bobbin area.
  3. Oil hook race and moving parts as directed in manual.
  4. Wipe exterior with soft, dry cloth.
  5. Replace needle regularly (every 8-10 hours of sewing).

CAUTION! Use only Janome recommended oil. Do not use compressed air for cleaning.
