Installation & Setup

Threading the Machine

  1. Raise needle to highest position using handwheel.
  2. Place spool on spindle, thread through first guide.
  3. Follow numbered path: Down, up, around tension discs.
  4. Thread take-up lever from right to left.
  5. Pass thread through remaining guides to needle.
  6. Thread needle from front to back.
  7. Pull about 6 inches of thread under presser foot.

Tip: Always raise presser foot when threading to open tension discs.

Basic Sewing Operations

Master these fundamental sewing techniques.

  1. Starting: Position fabric, lower presser foot, backstitch 2-3 stitches.
  2. Straight stitching: Guide fabric gently, let feed dogs move material.
  3. Turning corners: Stop with needle down in fabric, lift presser foot, pivot.
  4. Finishing: Backstitch 2-3 stitches, raise needle and presser foot.
  5. Reverse stitching: Hold reverse lever while sewing backwards.
  6. Free-motion: Lower feed dogs for quilting or decorative work.

WARNING! Never pull fabric through machine - let feed dogs do the work.

  1. Daily: Brush out lint from bobbin area and feed dogs.
